Recognizing 50 Years of Progress and Challenge
June 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots—three days of demonstrations in Greenwich Village, New York City, and a major turning point in the modern gay rights movement. In recognition of half a century’s progress and challenges, NYC is hosting a World Pride celebration during the month of June.
Cushman & Wakefield is recognizing this important moment in history too—in honor of Pride Month 2019, we crafted a timeline of significant gay rights milestones from the last 50 years in North America. The interactive timeline also includes information on Cushman & Wakefield’s involvement, such as the launch of UNITY, our Employee Resource Group for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning + Allies (LGBTQ+) colleagues. In addition, we are proud to have recently received the 2019 Corporate Equality Index distinction of Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality, earning a 100% score by meeting all criteria set forth by Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s benchmarking tool.

I imagine it’s because this subject is more personal, and that wherever one fits on the spectrum within the LGBTQIA community—or in the straight world—we would have a unique story to tell. Read more
