C&W Drives Largest Uk Speculative Letting In 2011
Following an introduction from Cushman & Wakefield’s Peter Victor, Senior Managing Director, Head of International Desk, EMEA, our industrial brokerage team presented a market overview to MetLife’s UK investment team who had previously invested in a joint venture with Gazeley UK Limited on a number of speculative buildings across the UK.
The largest of these was G-Park Rugeley. The property remained un-let 18 months after its practical completion and Cushman & Wakefield was asked to competitively pitch its credentials against a number of other companies in order to win the assignment.
Led by our Birmingham Industrial Head, David Binks, our team was interviewed by both MetLife and Gazeley directors and secured the appointment in late 2010.
We recommended a number of changes to the marketing campaign to focus on e-commerce retail occupiers in particular, and within six months terms had been agreed upon with Amazon UK, which resulted in the United Kingdom’s largest speculative letting in 2011.
