New Alliance Allows Global Real Estate Firm to Provide Capital Improvement Oversight to Athletic Department Constituents
CHICAGO, IL – Cushman & Wakefield announced today that it has partnered with The National Association of Directors of College Athletics (NACDA), the largest association of college athletics administrators, to offer a conflict-free real estate strategist to NACDA’s full membership of 12,500 individuals and 1,600 institutions throughout the United States. Cushman & Wakefield’s model offers a single point of contact to athletic departments, providing full development oversight from start to finish including strategy, design, and construction.
“College athletic departments throughout the country are spending at an unprecedented pace to develop and renovate facilities for all sports,” said Michael Sessa, Executive Managing Director at Cushman & Wakefield. Mr. Sessa and his partner, Craig Cassell, an executive managing director at Cushman & Wakefield and the global leader of the firm’s Education Practice Group, are leading the initiative on behalf of C&W. “Often times these multi-million dollar projects are planned and managed without the oversight of an experienced, third-party project manager exclusively aligned with the athletic department. We are here to serve as the athletic department advocate and effectuate three key outcomes on its behalf – reduce risk, save time, and save money,” said Mr. Cassell.
Cushman & Wakefield has provided real estate services to many of the nation’s most recognized educational institutions including Stanford University, University of Maryland, University of Utah, Berkeley University, and University of Massachusetts.
“NACDA is looking forward to this unique partnership with Cushman & Wakefield as the landscape of collegiate athletics continues to evolve,” said NACDA Executive Director, Bob Vecchione. “The facilities arms race in this industry is undeniable, and as our members work to navigate the challenges of building new facilities or renovating/managing existing ones, having a worldwide expert in the real estate category as a sponsor that understands the financial aspects of these decisions will become increasingly important."
