Craig Smith



Craig is an expert in the commercial real estate industry with more than 25 years of experience. His brokerage clients have included some of the Canada’s leading companies and entrepreneurs. Craig is the leading industry expert in value add and opportunistic real estate notably the historic and character building space. He specializes in investment sales and office leasing in Toronto’s core and periphery areas.

Craig was the Founder, President and Broker of Record of Ashlar Urban Realty, a full service Toronto-based commercial real estate firm founded in 1999. Cushman and Wakefield acquired Ashlar Urban in 2017, Ashlar Urban specialized in asset sales of urban land and buildings as well as office and retail agency leasing in Toronto. Craig was previously the general manager and senior V.P. of both Knowlton Realty and Torode Realty in Toronto. Craig is also active in several companies through his family holding company and is founder of several ventures including a debt fund and a Student Housing Public company (CHC).

Craig is the former president and member of the board of directors of NAIOP, Canada’s largest real estate Industry Association and is currently President of the National Club  at 303 Bay Street. Craig is also actively involved in several volunteer organizations/charities  notably the chairman’s council of Amici (a charity that sends worthy children to summer camp) and he sits on the board of Gilda’s House in Toronto(a support organization for families struggling with cancer) where he has chaired several celebrity events raising close to $100k annually. Craig holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario and was President of the student body and member of the senate in 1984/1985.
