Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield Mr. MacDonnell was a director in the real estate investment banking division of Bank of America Securities and a member of Lehman Brothers Investment Banking Group. Over the past 15 years, Mr. MacDonnell has acted as the lead real estate investment banker in more than 50 transactions valued in excess of $5 billion, involving a myriad of successful debt financings, private placements, joint ventures, discretionary funds, and M&A assignments.
Daniel MacDonnell is a Managing Director and Securities Principal in Cushman & Wakefield’s Global Hospitality Group based in the Century City office, where he is focused on expanding the Hospitality Group’s investment sales, debt, equity and structured finance business including programmatic joint ventures and investment funds. Since joining Sonnenblick-Goldman (sold to Cushman & Wakefield in 2007), Mr. MacDonnell has completed approximately $3.5 billion in hotel investment sales and financings. Investment sales experience includes full service hotels (Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles, CA), select service hotels (Holiday Inn Express in Burlingame, CA) and resorts (San Juan Oaks Hotel and Golf Resort in Hollister, CA). Notable equity/debt financings include bridge financing for the Ritz Carlton Rancho Mirage, CA; redevelopment financing for the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort in San Antonio, TX; construction financing for the Montage Hotel & Residences in Beverly Hills, CA; the acquisition and redevelopment financing of the SLS Hotel in Los Angeles, CA; mezzanine financing of the Four Seasons Vail, CO; senior construction financing for Rancho Encantado in Sante Fe, NM; bridge and predevelopment facility for the proposed Rosewood Telluride Resort & Residences, CO; equity recapitalization of Sea Ranch Lodge, CA; and equity recapitalization of the Ritz-Carlton Highlands in Lake Tahoe, CA.
Mr. MacDonnell is a moderator/panelist at conferences on the topic of hospitality finance/sales, strategic capital raises and structures which include commingled funds, joint ventures and entity level capital raises. Mr. MacDonnell holds a bachelor's degree from Williams College and an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He is a CFA and member of New York Society of Certified Financial Analysts, is a former member of the Policy Advisory board of the Fisher School of Real Estate, and current member of the RDC ULI Council, a registered California Real Estate Broker and member of the NASD as a Securities Principal.
