David Wood has been in the Commercial Real Estate Industry in Toronto for over 24 years with leadership and sales positions in both boutique and international real estate organizations. His diverse career, working on both Tenant and Landlord sides of the business in Leasing and Asset Management, position him with a detailed skill set and unique perspective to provide strategic counsel and negotiating expertise to corporate users of real estate.
David began his career at Royal LePage Commercial Inc. (now Cushman and Wakefield Ltd.) in 1988. Upon entering sales in 2001, David earned the designation of “Rookie of the Year, and earned the company’s achievement award in 1993, 1994, and 1995. In 1997, he was recognized as one of the company’s top 25 commercial sales representatives across Canada. As a Tenant Representation specialist in the Toronto Office Market, David worked with tenants including Chubb Insurance, PCL Construction, Guardian Group of Funds, Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP, and Chase Manhattan Bank.
As Vice President, Leasing at Brookfield Properties, David was responsible for negotiating many of the office leasing transactions in Brookfield’s premier office towers in Toronto’s Financial Core including First Canadian Place, The Exchange Tower, Brookfield Place – TD Canada Trust Tower and The Bay Adelaide Centre.
Having concluded negotiations with Tenants including The Bank of Montreal, Heenan Blaikie, Thomson Reuters, Fasken Martineau, TD Bank, Xstrata and Gluskin Sheff, David is uniquely qualified to assist financial core tenants with negotiation strategies and lease negotiations resulting from knowledge of landlord positioning and negotiating tactics.
In 2014, David re-joined the Downtown Toronto Office Leasing Division as Vice President, bringing a deep understanding and perspective to his clients.
David is a graduate of York University in Toronto and has contributed extensively to the Commercial Real Estate Community in Toronto through presentations, community involvement, and participation on various committees for standards and awards.
