Mr. Varol has been active in the valuation and tax consulting industries since 1998 and specializes in cost segregation tax consulting. In addition, he has expertise in construction cost estimating, tangible asset valuation, and structured finance consulting.
He has experience with all commercial property types, including office, retail, multifamily, and industrial, as well as analyzing real estate acquisitions and new construction for private equity funds, REITs, publicly held companies, real estate developers, syndicators, and individual investors.
Mr. Varol is a trusted advisor to many clients in regards to tax accounting strategies and is adept at helping potential clients evaluate the cost segregation tax strategy. He typically works with property owners, tax advisors, investment advisors, and legal counsels to deliver cost segregation services.
Portfolios and Statistical Analysis
Mr. Varol has strong experience providing cost segregation analysis for large portfolios. This includes retail net-lease portfolios, office portfolios with multiple multi-tenant properties, and specific modernization/improvement programs rolled out by retailers. He has worked directly with the IRS to secure their approval of the sample selection process and statistical modelling required to complete portfolio analyses.
Mr. Varol has extensive experience providing tax consulting for structured finance transactions, particularly for renewable energy developments. He has advised on the section 1603 federal grant program, federal tax depreciation/amortization, the federal investment tax credit, and various state tax credits related to renewable energy developments. Mr. Varol has worked on behalf of developers, bank investors, private investors, and transaction syndicators for transactions related to utility scale solar, residential solar, wind, biomass, hydro, geothermal, and battery storage projects.
