James leads Cushman & Wakefield's national Dealership Capital Services team which is directly responsible for formulating business solutions for automotive dealer groups. These solutions involve an array of services including buy/sells, debt & equity procurements, debt workouts, and real estate finance alternatives.
James has more than 22 years of experience in the automotive industry spanning the diverse areas of retail, finance and real estate. Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, James was a Senior Vice President at CBRE where he headed their Dealership Capital Services Group and worked directly with some of the top automotive retail groups in the U.S. James started his automotive brokerage career in 2007 at Marcus & Millichap where he was founder and director of their National Automotive Group. Before focusing on brokerage, he co-founded and managed Automerica, a dealership chain specializing in pre-owned sales. During this period, James gained an in-depth knowledge of the automotive retail process, leadership of sales personnel and the management of dealership assets. James’ expertise on automotive real estate came from being on the acquisitions team at Capital Automotive Real Estate Investment Services, Inc. assisting in the sourcing and underwriting of more than $650 million of auto dealer real estate. James began his career with the American Honda Motor Company, advancing into a senior executive position working closely with auto dealers and their representation of the Honda brand.
James graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, CT with a BA in Economics and a minor in Formal Organizations.
James is a licensed Virginia Real Estate Agent.
