Paula Couper joined Cushman & Wakefield in March 2014 as an assistant property manager for a medical office portfolio for Hospital Corporation of America. She is responsible for assisting in the management and leasing of eighteen medical office buildings servicing four hospitals located throughout the Kansas City area. Within her portfolio she is responsible for all tenant leasing activities and ensuring strict adherence to the Stark compliance laws governing hospital and physician leasing practices. She also assists in the management of daily operations, monthly financial reporting, lease negotiations, and coordinating tenant improvement projects.
Paula began her career in real estate in 2007 working as an assistant property manager for a multi-family housing company specializing in student housing in Lawrence, Kansas. During the three years with the company her responsibilities included oversight of rent collections, accounting, property inspections, assistance in the day-to-day operations, and leasing needs for the property. In 2010, she relocated to the Kansas City metro area as a property manager for another multi-family housing company. Paula was able to expand her knowledge of property management through developing annual budgets, setting operational and financial goals, and establishing tenant satisfaction and retention programs.
