Karmeliterschule, Frankfurt, is a combined Primary and Secondary School with 210 pupils in total. Our key focus are the 80 students at level I, (10-14 yrs of age).
The school is located in a neighbourhood of Frankfurt with a large proportion of immigrants and high levels of poverty and social deprivation .
The vast majority of the students have difficult socio-economic backgrounds. Coming as they do from 36 different nationalities the school is multilingual with a certain potential for conflict due to the underprivileged wider social environment.
How SATW is making a difference:
Remedial Education
Employees of the C&W Frankfurt Office give remedial lessons to students in German, English and Mathematics. Besides supporting the students’ learning, the “C&W-teachers/mentors” want to listen to the students’ needs and be supportive partners to help them develop more self-confidence.
Career Awareness – Work Experience
By organising opportunities for practical work experience in C&W’s Frankfurt office, we help students to gain insight into working life at C&W, to get to know the company and its areas of operation and to build a bridge from the students’ current poor social surroundings to the business world.
Social and Fun Activities
School excursion
C&W Germany organised an excursion to a forest adventure climbing park with the Secondary School students. They were challenged by exciting sporting and mental activity and developed excellent team spirit.
Selective Sponsorship Programs
In coordination with the school, C&W Frankfurt has supported the project “ Photography Club”, for which the cameras were sponsored by the SATW organisation.
