SATW: How it all started
Schools Around The World [SATW] has its origins in a visit by the CEO of Cushman & Wakefield [EMEA], John Travers, to the Lilian Baylis Technology School (LBTS) in the Borough of Lambeth, south London, UK at the end of 2004. This school has around 600 students between the ages of 11 and 16, whose opportunities are limited by social, domestic or financial circumstances.
Working with Gary Philips, the Headmaster of the LBTS, John Travers identified a number of areas where Cushman & Wakefield could assist students at this school to broaden both their horizons and aspirations and help prepare them to take a pro-active and successful role in society once they leave the school.
SATW was launched in 2005 as a UK registered charity and Lilian Baylis Technology School in South London was the first school to become a partner. This successful partnership proved to be an inspiring model for others across the firm and today the SATW has embraced schools in Poland, Hungary, Russia and with further initiatives in Spain, Italy and Czech Republic under review.
