Summer 2007 Update

Cushman & Wakefield hosted three 'cultural/eduactional visits' around Europe in June for groups of young people from Lilian Baylis Technology School (LBTS) in London, the founding school of SATW, identified by John Travers for assistance in 2005. As in previous years, the school's students had the opportunity of visiting the cities of Rome, Lisbon and Amsterdam.

In addition, in July, the London office received students studying English at the Belvarosi Tanoda Foundation Secondary School, our 'adopted' school in Hungary. This year, we had 6 students from a school in Budapest, ranging from 19 to 24 years old. They were joined by two teachers from the school and Gabriella Lewis from the C&W Budapest office. Their three-day visit took them to London's most popular attractions including the London Eye, an open-top bus tour, river cruise, guided walks, changing of the guard, Tower of London and the Houses of Parliament.

Further activities for the Special Education Centre of Wegorzewo, our adopted school in Poland, will take place this summer and autumn (one month's work experience in five-star hotels and a trip to Paris), and activities for two Russian schools coming into the programme are also planned for the autumn. Other SATW initiatives in the Czech Republic, Spain, Turkey, Italy and Africa are being developed.

Among those coordinating the trips this summer from Cushman & Wakefield were: Amsterdam - Petra Geerdink and Nicole Wilson, with Baldwin Poolman, head of the office, making the 'welcome speech' at the first-night bowling event. Budapest - Gabriella Lewis. Lisbon - Elsa Perdigao and Filipa Carmo. London - Samantha Howe, as well as Laura Kent, David Baldock, Sheila Parry, Moira Niven, Amy Youngs and Rachael Over. Rome - Valentina Giannotti, who was joined on the trips by Marusca Zammarchi, Laura Imperia and Gwendolyn Fais.
