We analyse the 3 most popular shopping streets in Istanbul to understand the retail market dynamics through selected indicators and parameters. These are analysed annually and the results are compared to the same period of the previous year and interpreted to reflect the general retail trends and dynamics in the shopping streets.

- retail changes in terms of national / international brands
- street pedestrian traffic counts
Key findings:
Istiklal Street on the European Side is the busiest pedestrianized street in Istanbul, as well as being the most famous main shopping street in Istanbul, and is home to many national and international retailers, as well as cultural and historical artifacts, museums, theatres, restaurants and embassies.
Another popular shopping area on the European side, Nişantaşı district consists of 4 main streets: Rumeli, Teşvikiye, Vali Mansion and Abdi İpekçi. Nişantaşı is the main centre of both national and international luxury brands, as well as a very popular shopping area with its famous restaurants and cafes.
Bagdat Street on the Anatolian Side is the longest street among the most popular main streets of Istanbul and has the highest income level of the surrounding population, and is home to a wide range of national and international brands, including luxury and high-end brands as well as multi-storey retail.
