The Croatian economy continued to rebound in 2022 as Croatia’s GDP advanced by 5.2% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2022. The country benefited from the reopening of economies after Covid restrictions, while the high demand and consumer savings built up during the pandemic boosted tourism, the most important sector of the economy. The economy should receive a boost from becoming a member of the EU and adoption of the Euro.

Stronger leasing activity was reported in the fourth quarter with a total of 22,560 sqm leased. This took full year activity to 62,600sqm. Vacancy remains low at just 2.37%, broadly unchanged on the previous quarter. Rents remained stable for Class A office buildings between €13-15.5/sq m/month.

2022 saw the opening of a number of shopping centres and retail parks across the country reflecting improved retail activity. Retail parks remain the most active sector, with several new openings planned in 2023.
