The store opened to the public on November 20.
Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) announces the arrival of Deichmann Shoes at Palácio do Gelo Shopping in Viseu. This is the brand’s first store in the city and its 10th in Portugal. The operation was advised by the consultancy, which represented the brand in leasing a 388 m² store.
Deichmann is a family-owned footwear retail company founded in 1913 by Heinrich Deichmann in Essen, Germany. Over more than a century, it has grown to become Europe’s largest shoe retailer, with around 4,700 stores in over 30 countries worldwide. In Portugal, Deichmann has been present since 2011 and, with this new opening, now has 10 physical stores, all located in shopping centers.
Palácio do Gelo was inaugurated in 1996. In 2008, after a major renovation and expansion, it became Palácio do Gelo Shopping. Today, it is one of the largest shopping centers in the country’s interior, bringing together 150 stores across an area of 75,000 m². A pioneer in integrating sports, health, entertainment, and retail, it stands out for unique events, including fashion shows featuring well-known personalities, the first ice-skating championships, and the birth of the National Ice Hockey Team. With millions of visitors, it has become a driver of retail modernization and consolidated Viseu as a reference destination.
“We are very pleased with the opening of this store, which will allow Deichmann to establish a presence in the city of Viseu and enrich the tenant mix at Palácio do Gelo, improving the footwear offering for its customers,” says João Pereira, Consultant at Cushman & Wakefield.
