HAVI is part of Morgan Street Holdings, headquartered in the United States, and is a world leader in integrated supply chain management for the food industry.
The opening of the TechHub reinforces HAVI’s international expansion strategy. Founded in 1974 and present in Portugal since 1993, HAVI currently employs around 250 people across Lisbon, Porto, and Azambuja. Lisbon was chosen to host the third global digital innovation center, joining Chicago (USA) and Krakow (Poland). HAVI plans to recruit an additional 70 professionals, bringing the total number of employees at the Lisbon hub to 150 in the near future.
The new space occupies the 4th floor of the Cais 5 building, owned by Signal Capital Partners and recently fully refurbished at the Core & Shell level by the Contacto Atlântico studio. As an older building, the intervention was essential to align the space with the new urban dynamics of Cais do Sodré, an area that includes landmarks such as the EDP headquarters and the renovated Mercado da Ribeira. The building features six office floors above ground, a seventh rooftop floor, and underground parking.
Benefiting from privileged views, HAVI’s new TechHub was designed to reflect a modern, collaborative, and highly functional approach. Developed by Cushman & Wakefield’s architecture and construction teams, the Design & Build project aimed to ensure greater efficiency, faster execution, and a final result aligned with HAVI’s innovative vision.
“The close collaboration with HAVI was decisive for the success of this project. The constant involvement and trust shown allowed us to work in complete alignment and develop a bold proposal that resulted in a truly distinctive space. When there is trust on the ground, the final result inevitably reflects that spirit of partnership,” highlights João Martins Abrantes, Project Manager at Cushman & Wakefield.
The HAVI TechHub stands out as a modern and functional open-space environment, featuring a meeting and presentation area in an amphitheater format. The project also includes a sequence of offices and meeting rooms, two of which are interconnected, allowing them to be used as a single larger space. The space is complemented by several “pods” for quick meetings and informal collaborative work areas. Finally, the TechHub also includes a creativity zone – the brainstorm area – and a pantry with a lounge area, designed to enhance well-being and team interaction.
Among the most distinctive elements of the TechHub are the running track that circles the entire perimeter of the open space and a tile mural in one of the meeting rooms that evokes the view from the Santa Catarina viewpoint, creating a subtle link between HAVI’s global identity and Lisbon’s culture.
