Cushman & Wakefield (C&W), in partnership with Espaço de Arquitetura, will launch a training program on Sustainability, ESG and certifications in the context of the built environment, responding to the market’s growing demand for technical skills in this strategic area of the real estate and construction sectors.
Aimed primarily at architects and other professionals involved in project development, the program is designed to equip participants with the ability to integrate sustainability principles and ESG criteria from the early design stages through execution. It promotes an understanding of the ESG framework as applied to construction and real estate, regulatory and market requirements, the main sustainability certifications for buildings, and the strategic role of architects in creating sustainable value.
The program is divided into two main blocks. The first, “Introduction to ESG Certifications in the Built Environment,” will take place on March 3, 5 and 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., online via Microsoft Teams. It consists of three modules focused on the fundamentals of sustainability in construction, sector trends, legislative context, and assessment criteria.
The second block, “ESG Certifications in the Built Environment,” will take place on March 12, 17, 19 and 24, also from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and also online. It includes four modules dedicated to the technical deep dive into the main international certification systems – namely BREEAM, LEED and WELL – as well as the practical application of ESG criteria in architectural projects.
According to Ana Luisa Cabrita, Partner and Head of the Sustainability and ESG department in Portugal and EMEA Asset Services Sustainability & ESG Lead at C&W: “Over recent years we have been challenged by clients and sector professionals to provide specific training on certifications in the built environment, and this program responds directly to that need. It combines a comprehensive overview of sustainability and ESG principles with a practical analysis of the main certification systems, supported by real case studies, enabling participants to acquire a solid foundation for more informed decisions and, at a later stage, to pursue accreditation processes with the official entities responsible for formal assessor certification.”
Cushman & Wakefield has a specialized Sustainability and ESG team and a proven track record in implementing environmental certifications across various asset types. This experience underpins the development of this training program and ensures a technical, pragmatic approach aligned with real market demands.
The training sessions will be delivered by three senior professionals from C&W’s sustainability and ESG team in Portugal: Ana Luisa Cabrita, Joana Pedro and Teresa Bártolo, all with extensive experience in the sector and in the various certification systems.
Registrations are now open through the Espaço de Arquitetura portal.
