Cushman & Wakefield Recognized in Fitwel 2022 “Best in Building Health” Awards

2/28/2022

CHICAGO - Cushman & Wakefield (NYSE: CWK), a leading global real estate services firm, earned four company-level recognitions in the Fitwel Best in Building Health® leadership awards. The awards recognize people and companies enhancing human health via Fitwel®, the leading certification system committed to building health for all.

Created in partnership with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and operated by the Center for Active Design (CfAD), Fitwel is a rigorous, third-party healthy building certification system that sets the industry standard for evidence-based strategies to promote health and wellness through the built environment.

The Best in Building Health awards honor those who meet and exceed Fitwel standards, but also recognize exceptional leadership and progress in the industry. This year’s special recognition awards feature companies that are leading the charge in driving market transformation through their buildings for health and wellness, sustainability and social equity.

In the 2021 Distinctions category, Cushman & Wakefield was recognized for the Greatest Number of Certifications (Consultant); and, among the Greatest Impact on Building Health distinctions, Cushman & Wakefield won for both the Most People Impacted across Building Scorecards and the Highest Square Footage. The firm was also recognized in the 2021 Highest Scoring Projects category for Single-tenant Building v2.1 (Built) for its work with the Alfabank Technopark in Moscow.

“As a leading real estate services provider, we know that we have the opportunity and responsibility to guide our clients with innovative, sustainable and efficient solutions for the properties they own and manage,” said Marla Maloney, President of Asset Services, Americas. “We are proud to have earned these Fitwel Best in Building Health awards.”

Additionally, Rachel Schiftan, Associate Director, Energy & Sustainability Services at Cushman & Wakefield and Fitwel Ambassador, has been named the Ambassador Associated with the Most Certified Projects (All Time), at 60 projects.

“Both in our clients’ spaces and our own offices, Cushman & Wakefield is committed to incorporating research-backed measures into buildings to create distinctive and healthy places,” said Schiftan. “We are honored to receive these awards and look forward to continuing our support of the Center for Active Design’s work to transform properties around the world.”

Cushman & Wakefield’s Energy & Sustainability Services team delivers actionable solutions in energy and sustainability benchmarking and consultation; energy performance and management; and certification project management.

“The 2022 award winners demonstrate not only an increased demand for Fitwel and healthy building certification, but significantly, an increased emphasis around the globe on prioritizing occupants’ health and wellness,” said Joanna Frank, President and CEO of CfAD. “With the growing focus on prioritizing human health, real estate owners and investors are meeting the demand for health-focused buildings with key strategies and programs to prioritize occupant health.”
