Cushman & Wakefield strengthens its Residencial and Alternatives team after advising more than € 300M in 2021

The company formed the new department in early 2021. Now it takes an important step in its consolidation.

These are the Sale & Leaseback operation of the senior living asset Forum Mare Nostrum, the acquisition of a student residence in Madrid, the sale for €97 million of a student residence in Barcelona to Commerz Real AG and an acquisition of more than €150M of nursing homes in different locations.

After a first year with very satisfactory results, the company has just announced the incorporation of Geoff McCabe, who joins Cushman & Wakefield Spain as an associate and will be part of a team of 4 people. McCabe will be responsible for strengthening the advisory service to promoters and investors in the sale and acquisition of PRS and Built-to-Rent assets.

With this addition, Cushman & Wakefield consolidates its Residential and Alternatives team, supervised by Rupert Lea, international partner and member of the board of directors, and also formed by associates Michael Martínez McGough and Miles Leonard Millán. Both have been developing the areas of student and senior residences for several years, coming from the capital markets retail and valuation teams of C&W, respectively. In this way, the consultancy will advise large companies in several segments: Built-to-Rent residential, student residences, health-related assets and senior living.

Previously, Geoff McCabe has served as Associate Director at CBRE UK and Associate Partner at Daniel Watney LLP, among others, where he specialised in the UK residential/BTR sector for 10 years. In August 2020, Geoff led the sale of the UK's first fully stabilized bespoke Built-to-Rent asset . In addition, he has advised residential transactions of a total value of approximately € 3,000M.

Michael Martínez McGough joined C&W in 2015, having worked in financial and real estate asset management at BBVA Asset Management, Merrill Lynch and, and having graduated in economics from the University of London with a Master's degree in real estate management from the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

Miles Leonard Millán joined C&W in 2011 from the Ohio State University (Fisher School of Business) and obtained a Master of Science in Real Estate accredited by RICS at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Miles is currently a professor at ESCP Business School and a member of RICS.
