Michal Pierzchalski joins the Strategic Consulting ESG Advisory team of Cushman Wakefield

Katarzyna Lipka • 17/10/2023

With new legislation and guidelines taking effect, companies increasingly require assistance with energy efficiency and carbon footprint analyses. To meet their expectations, Cushman & Wakefield is expanding its Strategic Consulting & ESG Advisory team with the appointment of Michał Pierzchalski, PhD in Architectural Engineering, as a Senior ESG Consultant with responsibility as part of ESG and sustainability services for WLC (Whole Life Carbon) analyses, LCA (Life Cycle Assessment), ESG reports and building energy efficiency advisory services.

“Michał is an experienced market theoretician and practitioner. In the past he designed energy efficient and sustainable buildings, actively engaging in scientific work and teaching. He is one of very few specialists in carbon footprint measuring and management. As the real estate market is facing a number of challenges in developing processes to measure carbon emissions throughout a building’s lifecycle, we are well-positioned to support our clients in this respect too", says Katarzyna Lipka, Head of Strategic Consulting and ESG, Cushman & Wakefield Poland.

Michał Pierzchalski is a specialist in real estate carbon footprint and other negative environmental impacts of buildings and construction materials. During the course of his professional career he has participated in research projects funded by scientific grants and prepared papers on sustainability in construction. He has also co-authored ESG reports on environmental matters and strategies towards climate neutrality for several major joint-stock companies.
Michał has, among other things, designed passive (class A) public buildings which have been co-financed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) from its priority programmes Lemur and Puszczyk. He has also worked on a project delivered as part of the Model Project of Deep Thermal Upgrade of a building which was refurbished to the nZEB standard.
The Strategic Consulting & ESG Advisory team of Cushman & Wakefield Poland is focused, among other things, on developing integrated strategies that address sustainability goals and on proposing solutions and tools supporting clients in achieving them.
Cushman & Wakefield has broad experience in multi-criteria certification schemes such as BREEAM, LEED, WELL and Fitwel. In 2021, it was the first company in Poland to appoint accredited professionals in WiredScore and SmartScore certifications: the internationally recognised digital connectivity and smart building rating systems. Cushman & Wakefield also provides energy advisory services as part of energy purchase and optimisation processes and audits of building systems with a view to identifying potential financial and environmental benefits. It has also developed decarbonisation strategies and pathways.
