Thierry Botto • 10/17/2022

Thierry Botto, transaction director at Cushman & Wakefield in Rio de Janeiro, led the process of selling the historic headquarters of IRB Brasil RE. With about 11 thousand m², the property, recently retrofitted, was acquired for R$ 85.3 million by SEBRAE/RJ.

Thierry attributes the strong performance of the Cushman & Wakefield team in the carioca real estate market as essential to build bridges between supply and demand, linking the ideal buyer to the perfect property for their needs, and thus concluding successful real estate deals like this, even in difficult periods. challenges for the market.

Located on one of the main access roads to downtown and close to the airport, the property of the largest reinsurer in Brazil is considered a historical heritage for Rio de Janeiro.

It was the first and only headquarters of the IRB since its creation, by Getúlio Vargas, whose office has been preserved since then. Its facade, listed for being an icon of Brazilian modernist architecture, was designed by the award-winning Brothers Roberto. On the rooftop, a garden by renowned landscaper Roberto Burle Marx brings green to the concrete.
