2027 opening of the first store in Prague – more to follow in the Czech Republic
Burgermeister continues its European growth trajectory, tapping into another international market with the Czech Republic. The Berlin-based quick-service company will open its first store in Prague in early 2027. This market entry marks another milestone in Burgermeister’s long-term expansion strategy, aiming to build a Europe-wide network of locations. Further openings in the Czech Republic are already planned.
The new store will be located in the Wenceslas Square in the central district of Prague 1. Wenceslas Square and its surroundings represent one of Prague’s most prominent retail and hospitality destinations, offering excellent visibility and a strong platform for Burgermeister’s entry into the Czech market. The area connects local consumers with millions of visitors exploring Prague’s historic city centre each year, making it an attractive launch location for international F&B brands. Guests can look forward to the proven Burgermeister concept, featuring freshly prepared burgers and fries, with a clear focus on product quality, speed, and strong value for money.
The move into Prague is built on a scalable foundation: in-house production, an own bakery, and a concept that can be transferred 1:1 into new markets. This is precisely what enables the brand’s enormous growth rate. Furthermore, Prague is one of the most dynamic restaurant markets in Central Europe, offering an environment perfectly suited to this expansion strategy. Burgermeister currently operates 32 locations across Germany and other European countries.
Robert Fügert, CEO of Burgermeister, says: “Our goal is clear: We want to build Burgermeister into one of the leading quick-service brands in Europe. Prague is not just another store opening; it is the starting point for our long-term growth in the Czech Republic. We see great potential for additional locations and will develop a strong presence in the market.”
“With a central location in Prague 1, Burgermeister successfully enters the market in a high-traffic and excellently positioned area, visited by more than 36 million people annually. The location offers the right mix of tourists and locals to establish the brand in the Czech market. At the same time, Czech consumers and international visitors are increasingly open to discovering new food concepts and global trends, creating opportunities for brands with a distinctive identity and strong product offering,” says Darja Divine, Retail Tenant Representation Lead at Cushman & Wakefield, which brokered the premises.
