HK Policy Address Insight 2022

On October 19, 2022, the newly appointed Chief Executive of Hong Kong, John Lee Ka-Chiu, issued his first Policy Address under the theme of Charting a Brighter Tomorrow for Hong Kong, and emphasized that the clarity of the goal and direction are “to be results-orientated."

In the Policy Address, we see that in addition to the land and housing supply policies, the government is proactively strengthening its focus on innovative approaches, with policies targeting the development of industries and talent, which will further promote advancement of the Northern Metropolis and the Greater Bay Area.

This report outlines recommendations and frameworks to help progress the newly proposed government policies. We also summarize the policies relevant to the real estate sector and share our viewpoints and suggestions for further discussion.
