As a general practice surveyor and a member of the China board of the RICS, James has dealt with all major property types and benefits from 25 years of real estate industry experience.

James leads Cushman & Wakefield’s Greater China Business Development Services team of more than 50 research and marketing experts that drive Cushman & Wakefield’s regular market research, thought leadership programs and marketing operations. The team is extremely successful and has won a variety of accolades in recent years, including Asia Pacific Property Awards 2021 Best Property Agency / Consultancy, Best Real Estate Agency 5-20 Offices, Best Lettings Agency, and Best Property Agency / Consultancy Marketing. The team has also been awarded RICS China Research Team of the year in 2018 and 2021 with recognition for Excellence in 2017, 2019 and 2020; and was Euromoney Real Estate Survey’s #1 for China Research in 2017, 2018 and 2020; while also supporting the firm’s other impressive awards successes.

James joined the firm in 2014, having previously specialized in research and real estate due diligence across China and managing East China Research. Prior to this James was a senior director at Ernst & Young’s transaction real estate team, conducting research, consultancy, valuation, fair value and impairment testing. Between 2001 and 2007, James managed research, valuation and consultancy teams and also established industrial and retail functions in China for international real estate consultancies. James worked as an office broker in Hong Kong from 1998 to 2001 and started his career in the UK where he worked as a property agent in the industrial and residential sectors in 1996 and 1997. James is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and holds a BA (Hons) in Real Estate Valuation.
