Giving Munthof its original shine back
01:
The Opportunity
Building ‘Munthof’ makes a special appearance in the Reguliersdwarsstraat in Amsterdam. The monumental building consists of a mix of retail, offices and a parking garage which in renovated into its original glory and extended to the design of architects Bos Hofman.
02:
The solution
During the renovation, the exterior characteristics of the building are restored to the way they were in the years it was designed (1966-1969).
03:
The Result
By sacrificing the roof top parking area, the office area can be doubled from two to four floors while an add-on area is developed on top of the building.
To make this historical monument a sustainable building, new isolating materials and two energy--efficient heat pumps will arrange for heating and cooling through climate ceilings.
