Since joining C&W in 2018, Ely has worked to establish himself as a local expert and has become a trusted advisor representing owners in Surrey and Langley with investment sales and land assemblies.

Ely is passionate about community development and strongly believes in the future of North Surrey, specifically Guildford and Fleetwood areas. A critical thinker, creative problem solver and active listener, Ely constantly strives to build innovative strategies to support his clients’ real estate initiatives and help achieve their business strategic objectives. 

One of Ely’s most prominent transactions was the sale of a 1-acre, 35-storey concrete development site in Surrey City Centre to a fully integrated developer who is now actively building out the project. This deal provided Ely and his team with valuable insight into how larger developers underwrite properties. A key takeaway: more density does not always translate to higher residual land values. This realization sparked Ely’s deeper exploration into land use economics—an area that has proven increasingly relevant as the market shifted from a fast-paced environment with above-average absorption back to a more normalized pace closer to the 10-year average.

Ely earned a B.A. (Hons) in History at University of British Columbia and completed a one-year exchange at Tsinghua University where he studied Mandarin.
