  1. How did you get into the real estate market?

I’ve always had an interest in property and studied it at university with the intention of becoming a valuer. Once I entered the workforce, I quickly discovered I was more suited to the sales and leasing side of the business.

  2. What is happening in your sector right now?

The industrial market continues to outperform all asset classes which is reflected in the very high level of demand from tenants, absorption rates significantly above long-term averages and the unprecedented appetite from global capital attempting to find a home in Australian and West Australian logistics product. The emergence of the e-commerce juggernaut, rapidly improving technology and the focus and benefits of environmentally friendly real estate are current trends that will continue to change the industrial landscape with the effects to be felt for the next decade and beyond.

  3. What advice would you give tenants right now?

Align yourself with an experienced leasing agent, in what is a challenging market for occupiers due to the lack of options available and allow yourself as much time as possible to enable you to make the correct business decision.

  4. What advice would you give owners right now?

2023 is shaping up to be a unique time for players in Perth’s industrial property market with well-considered divestment and leasing strategies more critical than ever to successful outcomes. Owners should partner themselves with agents who display a level of skill and poise to ensure maximum commercial outcomes.

  5. What is the best piece of career advice you've ever been given?

Tenacity and persistence — nothing beats it.

  6. What is one of the most exciting/ challenging or interesting properties you've sold and why?

I was part of the divestment of the ‘South Guilford Portfolio’ acquired by Charterhall which at the time reflected benchmark pricing for assets sub $60M in WA. To be involved with the countries best investment team and to see how they operate was an invaluable experience.

  7. What advice would you give someone looking to get into a role in Industrial?

Do it. Every day is different, and you’ll meet all kinds of interesting and unique people!
