Sydney Water appoints Cushman & Wakefield to manage its extensive property portfolio

Jess Freeman • 27/02/2026
Cushman & Wakefield is pleased to  announce it has secured a significant Property Management and Asset Services contract with Sydney Water, marking a major expansion of the firm’s long-standing partnership with Australia’s largest water and wastewater service provider.

The agreement, signed on 19 December 2025, will see Cushman & Wakefield deliver an expanded suite of property and asset services across Sydney Water’s extensive portfolio, including Property Management, Leasing, and Portfolio Strategy. The contract covers approximately 830 revenue and expenditure leases and is scheduled to commence on 1 February 2026.

Cushman & Wakefield has supported Sydney Water since 2010, delivering services including meter reading and customer contact centre operations. The expanded scope reflects Sydney Water’s confidence in the firm’s ability to provide integrated property and asset services that support the scale, resilience and long-term performance of critical public infrastructure.

Jon McCormick, Head of IFM & Asset Services, ANZ at Cushman & Wakefield, said the appointment highlights the strength of the long-standing relationship between the two organisations.

“We are incredibly proud to expand our partnership with Sydney Water. Having supported their customer operations since 2010, this new mandate reflects the trust we have built and our team’s capability to deliver value at scale. We look forward to applying our strategic asset and portfolio expertise to support the performance and resilience of an essential infrastructure portfolio.”

Mario Carbone will lead the account, with dedicated transition teams currently working alongside Sydney Water to ensure a coordinated mobilisation ahead of the 1 February commencement.

Scott Snell, Head of IPM & Asset Services, Australia at Cushman & Wakefield, said the appointment underscores the firm’s depth of capability across asset services.

“This win reflects our commitment to excellence and our ability to deliver tailored property and asset solutions aligned to our clients’ operational objectives. By integrating portfolio strategy with day-to-day management, we are well positioned to drive efficiencies and enhance asset value across Sydney Water’s diverse property portfolio.”
