Karl Stewart is Head of the Retail team in Ireland at Cushman & Wakefield and a Chartered Surveyor with over 25 years’ experience in the retail property sector. Having joined the firm in 2004, Karl is widely regarded as one of the leading professionals in the Irish retail market, known for his deep expertise, strategic insight, and long-standing track record in delivering complex transactions.

Over the course of his career, Karl has developed and leads a highly specialised team that operates across all facets of the retail sector, including landlord and occupier representation, development and regeneration advice, strategic repositioning and repurposing, and retail investment sales. This breadth of service offering places his team in a unique position in the Irish market, combining comprehensive market intelligence with an integrated advisory approach.

Karl has advised on numerous high-profile and landmark retail transactions. Notable recent deals include the sale of Douglas Village Shopping Centre in 2023 for €23.1 million on behalf of the Shipton Group, and The Parks Collection in 2021 for €74.4 million on behalf of Marathon. He has also led significant leasing and acquisition mandates, including securing a 60,000 sq. ft. letting to Penneys at The Square and acquiring 130,000 sq. ft. of anchor retail space across Mahon Point and Whitewater for a major occupier. Additional transactions include the sale of the former Debenhams store on O’Connell Street, Limerick for €5.75 million, and the Corrib Centre in Galway for €18.5 million.
