He brings over 20 years of experience in the Dutch retail real estate market, with a strong specialization in leasing and acquisition advisory, as well as rent reviews in accordance with Section 7:303 of the Dutch Civil Code.
Operating on a nationwide basis, Jacob has built an extensive network of both retailers and landlords. His work focuses on the structured leasing of shopping centers, supporting retailers in acquisition mandates, and providing strategic advice on rent optimization.
Through his expertise in rent reviews, Jacob advises both landlords and retailers on achieving market-aligned and future-proof rental levels, contributing to sustainable value creation and strong asset positioning.
My Team
Within the retail team, Jacob is responsible for rent reviews in accordance with Section 7:303 of the Dutch Civil Code, as well as the leasing of shopping centers. In the context of rent optimization, he advises both landlords and retailers at portfolio and individual asset level, providing clear insight into opportunities to optimize rental levels and lease conditions.
By applying a structured, data-driven approach, risks and opportunities are systematically identified and translated into actionable recommendations. Jacob is also regularly appointed by the courts as an independent expert, providing expert opinions in rent review disputes. His practice focuses primarily on A1 and A2 high street locations, shopping centers, supermarkets, and out-of-town and large-scale retail locations (PDV/GDV) across the Netherlands.
In relation to shopping center leasing, Jacob advises landlords on the optimal retail mix, with a strong focus on tenant mix, positioning, and long-term performance. Through close collaboration with the Property Management, Strategic Consulting, Research and Capital Markets teams — and supported by an extensive database of comparable transactions — clients benefit from an integrated and well-substantiated advisory approach.
