CHICAGO, June 6, 2025 – Cushman & Wakefield (NYSE: CWK) today announced the firm has launched Athena, a proprietary tool to aid in the site selection process. Athena’s initial deployment in the U.S. is focused on the data center asset class. In addition to the U.S., the tool is now live in EMEA with a future roll-out planned for APAC.
An interactive mapping tool that integrates infrastructure, environmental factors and Cushman & Wakefield proprietary research, Athena provides data to help clients make informed decisions about potential data center sites.
Designed to streamline the site selection process, Athena provides a comprehensive view of locations, allowing users to analyze sites and visualize relevant infrastructure in the U.S., such as fiber networks, petroleum and natural gas pipelines, and others relevant qualities, in order to manage site information in a centralized, accessible platform.
“Athena will be a game changer for Cushman & Wakefield,” said Ethan Silverstein, Executive Vice Chair. “It saves time and puts hard-to-find information right at our fingertips. Athena can be leveraged at any stage of the sales cycle to explore potential data center sites.”
Cushman & Wakefield will be able to use the client’s most critical requirements, ensuring all key factors are considered, to provide a clear and comprehensive view of the best options to support the client’s business objectives.
“Athena enhances our competitive advantage by providing clients with cutting-edge technology, enabling faster, data-driven decisions and positioning us as leaders in the data center market,” said Salumeh Companieh, Chief Digital & Information Officer at Cushman & Wakefield. “The development of this tool highlights our commitment to growth and the strong partnership between our global practice groups and our Technology & Data Solutions team.”
The demand for data center sites has surged and continues to accelerate with the proliferation of AI. Capacity growth is projected to increase by 30% by 2029, with current capacity expected to grow from 40 gigawatts (GW) to 90 GW.
