Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) announces that it is now officially qualified to carry out water performance certifications for buildings according to the AQUA+ standard, in the Commercial & Services and Residential categories.
AQUA+, developed by ADENE – the Portuguese Energy Agency, is an innovative tool that assesses and promotes water efficiency in buildings, contributing to a more sustainable management of water resources. Recognized as an important indicator of environmental commitment and social responsibility, this certification applies to both new projects and existing buildings.
With this qualification, C&W can offer certification services to all clients seeking to enhance the value of their real estate assets, improve water performance, and align with best sustainability practices.
“This qualification strengthens our role as a strategic advisor in the transition to a more sustainable real estate sector, allowing us to support our clients with solutions that combine water efficiency, asset value enhancement, and environmental responsibility,” says Teresa Bártolo, ESG Consultant at Cushman & Wakefield.
The promotion and implementation of water resilience measures is gaining increasing relevance among real estate investors, who are showing willingness to pay a premium for sustainable buildings. Several recent studies published by the consultancy show that institutional investors are willing to pay between 10% and 20% more for assets aligned with the European Taxonomy and SFDR (Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation). With this new step, the consultancy’s specialized Sustainability and ESG team is now qualified to certify buildings with WELL, Fitwel, BREEAM, and LEED labels.
