Benjamin Harris

Head of Industrial Consulting, Americas • United States

About

Ben Harris leads Cushman & Wakefield's Industrial Consulting practice and Supply Chain & Logistics Advisory (SCLA) team in the Americas. He advises industrial occupiers, manufacturers and logistics operators on location strategy, site selection, network optimization and workforce planning.

With more than 15 years of supply chain and logistics experience, Ben has helped organizations make complex location and investment decisions across North America and beyond. His team’s work has supported more than $9.5 billion in capital investment projects and delivered significant operational and logistics savings for clients.

What distinguishes Ben’s approach is his focus on understanding the operation before evaluating the location. While many site selection processes begin with markets, incentives or property options, Ben starts by examining how the business functions. He looks at customer and supplier networks, transportation requirements, workforce needs, power availability and long-term growth plans to determine what conditions must exist for success.

Clients often bring Ben into a project when a shortlist already exists or a preferred location has gathered internal support. His role is to determine how that location will perform once hiring begins, volumes increase and the operation starts  to scale. By focusing on the realities of the operation, he ensures location decisions support business performance both now and into the future.

Where Ben Brings Smart Advice

Ben supports industrial occupiers and manufacturers on critical operational and real estate decisions, including:

  • Location strategy and site selection
  • Supply chain and logistics network optimization
  • Labor market assessment and workforce analytics
  • Transportation and distribution strategy
  • Power, utilities and infrastructure analysis
  • Incentives and economic development strategy
  • Operational scalability and hiring capacity over the life of an operation

How Ben Works

He starts with the operation.
Before evaluating buildings or markets, Ben defines what the operation needs to succeed. Transportation networks, workforce requirements, power availability and service expectations become the foundation for every recommendation.

He validates what the data can’t explain.
When secondary data leaves important questions unanswered, Ben's team conducts primary market research, speaking directly with local employers to understand workforce dynamics, hiring challenges and competitive pressures.

He helps clients understand risk, not just rankings.
Ben believes site selection is ultimately a business decision, not a scoring exercise. His approach helps clients understand trade-offs, test assumptions and make decisions they can support with confidence.

Awards & Recognition

In his 15 years as a supply chain practitioner, Ben has advised more than 45 organizations across three continents in both the private and public sectors. Over the past three years, his team has completed over $9.5 billion in capex-related projects. Throughout his career, he has helped clients to identify and/or achieve $80 million in logistics related cost savings.
