Dave Karson is Executive Managing Director of the firm’s Equity, Debt and Structured Finance Group based in the company's NYC office. Dave is responsible for the origination and execution of equity and debt placement and joint venture relationships, as well as for the evaluation and implementation of various capital markets strategies for many of the firm's clients around the country.
Since joining Sonnenblick Goldman, the firm's predecessor company in 2003, Dave has helped arrange billions of dollars of real estate transactions covering all areas of the capital stack and virtually every real estate asset class. Over the past few years Dave and his team have raised over $10b of capital for the acquisition and/or development of property around the country, utilizing capital from sovereign wealth funds, domestic and international insurance companies, family offices, public and private reits and pension plans and open and closed end funds, while employing a variety of hedging strategies to minimize interest rate and liquidity risk.
Dave and his team have represented some of the most successful owners in New York and around the country and has raised capital from around the world. Dave has won several awards for inventive deal structures to assist in capital transactions, is frequently quoted and speaks at trade conferences and other events around the country.
Prior to joining the Sonnenblick Goldman team, Dave was a principal at Meridian Equities, a New York City-based investment bank focused on structuring financial products and raising private capital to be invested into distressed public companies. While there he completed nearly twenty significant transactions and helped lead the firm to some of the most productive years in its history.
Dave lives in Greenwich, CT with his three sons Zachary (16) Aidan (12) and Chase (9).
