Joe Harkins has provided real estate brokerage and advisory services to a diverse group of corporate users and property owners for over 35 years. During his career, he has spearheaded the leasing of over 4 million square feet of commercial space at multiple properties within the New York Region and has represented a broad and distinguished tenant roster of clients.
Joe rejoined Cushman & Wakefield as an Executive Director in 2012, becoming a member of the firm’s national Tenant Advisory Group. A Broker of the Year recipient in 1994, Joe achieved national Top 100 ranking periodically throughout his initial 15-year tenure. He previously served as an executive managing director at Grubb & Ellis Company as local market leader for its national Tenant Advisory Group, and was previously executive managing director and principal with the Staubach Company. During his tenure there from 2000-2007, Joe consistently attained national Top Achiever honors among the firms brokerage professionals. His diverse expertise also includes negotiating large telecom and data center transactions while affiliated with Tishman Real Estate Services in 1998-2000.
Among his notable transactions, Joe concluded the largest lease at the Empire State Building in 2009 when representing the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Similarly, his 2004 representation of the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission from the Woolworth Building to the World Financial Center (Brookfield Place) was the largest new lease in Lower Manhattan post-9/11 and a REBNY Deal of the Year finalist honoree. In 2000, he also concluded the two largest data center transactions in the region totaling over 400,000 square feet. And in 1995, he co-led C&W’s site location consulting for Swiss Bank Corporation’s UBS) North American HQ relocation to Stamford, CT.
