About
Mark Root is a Managing Director in Cushman & Wakefield’s Equity, Debt & Structured Finance group, based in the firm’s Denver office. He is responsible for the origination and execution of institutional equity and debt placements across all asset types and capital structures.
Mark rejoined Cushman & Wakefield from JLL, where he served as a Managing Director in the Denver and Salt Lake City offices, focusing on debt and equity placements throughout the Rocky Mountain region. Prior to JLL, he spent nearly 12 years in Cushman & Wakefield’s San Francisco office, initially joining the firm in 2006 as part of the Equity, Debt & Structured Finance group, formerly Sonnenblick Goldman.
Throughout his career, Mark has been involved in raising over $15 billion in capital for properties and projects nationwide. His expertise includes structuring project debt and joint venture equity for commercial and hospitality assets, programmatic joint ventures, and investment funds.
Earlier in his career, Mark worked in Wells Fargo’s Real Estate Merchant Banking Group, where he provided bridge and construction financing to privately held development firms across the Southeastern U.S. He also served as an Equity Research Associate in the Financial Institutions Group at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey. Prior to his institutional career, Mark successfully operated a high-end residential development and construction company in Atlanta, GA, specializing in the speculative development and remodeling of high-end single-family homes.
