About
Mr. Knowlton joined Valuation and Advisory of Cushman & Wakefield in July of 2016. He specializes in providing decisive, research-based results; strategic management solutions and the execution of large-scale initiatives in environments with a high operational tempo. His expertise is in practical and theoretical research, analysis, and personal communication. Mr. Knowlton has employed his professional business practices and skill sets in the art of valuation and advisory and built a strong career with Cushman & Wakefield. As an active part of the team, Mr. Knowlton remains engaged in various aspects of the appraisal profession.
Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Mr. Knowlton was employed by the Department of Defense in various capacities, most recently as a Senior Air Traffic Control Manager and Operational Planner. He specialized in airspace management, domestic and international aviation planning and operations, education and curriculum development, airport design, management, and operations, and aviation safety and quality assurance. Mr. Knowlton’s work with the Department of Defense has involved projects throughout the United States as well as several countries in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. After nearly 24 years, in February of 2016, Michael retired from the Department of Defense.
As a member of the Cushman & Wakefield Valuation and Advisory team, Mr. Knowlton’s appraisal and consulting assignments have involved developing an opinion of current, prospective, and retrospective values for most property types throughout Southern California in connection with tax appeal, trust and estate, financial reporting, lending, and litigation. His appraisal experience encompasses a broad range of commercial and multi-family uses to include office, vacant land, warehouse, self-storage, mixed-use developments, master-planned communities, multi-family residential, retail, and airports as well as the ground lease valuation for leasehold and leased fee interests and ground rent reset.
