Tom Sakata started working at Cushman & Wakefield ChaneyBrooks in 2014 after a 30 year career in the hospitality industry. He plays a vital role in our resort/hotel sector for which his immense knowledge of the hotel industry and being fluent in Japanese has given him a unique advantage in the market. Mr. Sakata is a veteran of the hospitality industry who was responsible for the opening of the first Sheraton Hotel in the Tokyo Disneyland. During his 30 year tenure, he has held various level executive positions; namely: Vice President/General Manager at the Moana Surfrider Hotel, Hotel Manager at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, General Manager at the Sheraton Waiakea Village in Hilo and Hotel Manager at the Sheraton Kauai. He was the first Japanese professional to become an ITT Sheraton Management Trainee. His extensive experience in high-level executive tourism roles has afforded Mr. Sakata tremendous knowledge in Marketing, Operations and Construction in both Hawaii and Japan. Additionally, Mr. Sakata served as an Executive Vice President and Director of Operations under the George Solos portfolio expansion project, expanding from 2 to 18 hotels across Hawaii and Asia over a 4 year term.
