About
Robert Elms is Executive Vice President and a national head of Cushman and Wakefield’s Corporate Capital Markets team, which provides advice, analysis and execution for alternative capital solutions for corporate-owned and occupied real estate. Based in New York, Robert leads the team with the initiative to build the U.S. practice and strengthen Cushman’s position as the market leader.
Robert brings over 20 years of real estate transaction experience serving corporations, institutional investors and financial institutions. A significant component of Robert’s transaction sales expertise stems from credit related transactions such as sale leasebacks, build-to-suit developments, and net lease investment sales. He is responsible for helping corporations align their real estate occupancy strategy with their financial objectives and works extensively with investors in the sale of credit-based transactions. In this capacity, Robert advises corporate clients to develop an optimal transaction structure that incorporates lease accounting, tax and structured finance expertise.
Earlier in his career, Robert was part of the team that started JPMorgan’s Investment Banking Media group and played a key role in some of largest M&A and capital raising transactions in the media industry history, including Comcast’s hostile takeover of AT&T Broadband. He has also been involved in structuring and raising over $100 billion in the various capital markets ranging from IPO’s to syndicated bank deals.
Robert has completed sale and financing assignments for numerous corporate and institutional clients including Kraft, Bank of America, JP Morgan, AT&T, Ericsson, Verizon, NY Times, Williams Sonoma, Philip Morris, Unilever, Brookfield and WP Carey.
Robert is a graduate of University of Texas at Austin (BA – Economics), and Vanderbilt University (MBA – Finance and Accounting).
Mr. Elms is based at Cushman & Wakefield’s in New York City.
