- Charles was educated at Nottingham High School and Kingston Upon Thames University, where he graduated with a BSc Honours degree in Estate Management in 1988.
- He qualified as a Chartered Surveyor at JLL in 1991 and sat on the Office Agents Society national steering committee for 13 years with responsibility for their annual Development Awards programme.
