Starting on the retail team as an intern, Beth Findley, Research Analyst, has been with Cushman & Wakefield for more than two years. Beth was recently promoted from Retail Brokerage Associate to Research Analyst, while also moving to the North Shore. Beth took the time to give us a little insight into her personality, professional role and some of her favorite spots in and around Boston. Thanks, Beth!
What do you like most about your job?
For me, it is all about what I believe in – and I really believe in Cushman & Wakefield. The team here is doing great things in real estate, which keeps things exciting and motivates me as a professional. I recently joined the research team from the retail brokerage team, which has been a transition, but has brought me back to the fundamentals of the real estate space through in-depth analysis.
When you’re not working, where are you and what are you doing?
Two years ago, I moved to the North Shore from the South Shore, where I grew up. It is very different, but I’ve learned to really love the area and enjoy getting outside and walking my dog. I just hope none of my friends and family on the South Shore are reading this, though! I grew up playing ice hockey and field hockey, so staying active is really important to me. I play in a field hockey league and I’m also an avid spinner and try to ride every day.
What does CRE in Boston look like five years from now?
I’ve spent the last few years in retail and have seen it change significantly, particularly with short-term deals. Pop-ups are extremely popular as an option for tenants to test out the space before digging in to a long-term lease. I see this trend continuing over the next five years throughout Boston, especially on Newbury Street. As I begin to dive in more to the industrial markets in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Southern New Hampshire, it seems warehouse and transportation are on the rise.
What’s the professional accomplishment you’re most proud of?
I’m most proud of the first pop-up deal I executed for a luxury re-sale tenant. The tenant was looking to come and test out the Boston market on Newbury Street. The landlord was looking to activate the vacant space and we could not be prouder with the end result. It is always great when the landlord and tenant are happy!
What’s your favorite spot in all of Boston?
I love going to Bodega Canal and Ward 8 in the North Station area – I’m a big Bruins fan and go to tons of games throughout the season, so I can often be seen in and around the Garden.
