The 12-team event took place at the beautiful 12-lane Presidio Bowling Center in San Francisco and drew an attendance of over 65 bowlers and spectators from various commercial real estate firms across the area. Established in 2005, the widely popular Bowl-A-Thon is considered a staple annual event in the San Francisco commercial real estate brokerage community. This year, the event successfully raised $16,000 to support the important work of TPL who is building parks and safe spaces in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco.
Home to 65,000 residents, the Tenderloin has the densest concentration of children and families in San Francisco, including over 6,000 children and 10,000 seniors. TPL is transforming once troubled parks in the Tenderloin into beacons of community hope and pride, first with Boeddeker Park and the Helen Diller Civic Center Playgrounds, and now with Sgt. Macaulay Park and Hyde-Turk Mini-Park. The collection of park efforts has been deemed as The Tenderloin Wellness Trail. Situated within one of the densest, lowest income, most diverse, and park poor neighborhoods, the Tenderloin Wellness Trail works to prioritize the streets and sidewalks between all Tenderloin parks and playgrounds in order to cultivate a safe, vibrant and beautiful wellness trail.
This year’s Bowl-A-Thon efforts were led by the Cushman & Wakefield’s Tyler Paratte and Shane Smith, who are also leading members of the firm’s CWFL employee resource group.
Tyler Paratte said, “This incredible team fundraising effort was also the result of a lot of help and support, that extended to our terrific event sponsors: Kilroy, Techspace x Industrious, Two, Seagate Properties Inc, BCCI, ASD|SKY, Skyline Construction, Gensler, and Brian Martinico. Furthermore, special thanks also goes out to Jeff Mroczkowski, Newmark Knight Frank, Cresa, Build Group, Starboard, and Avison Young. We truly cannot thank everyone, both companies and individuals, enough for their generous contributions as well as participation.”
Shane Smith added, “We would also like to extend a huge congratulations to our 2019 Bowl-A-Thon winning team (based on bowling score), Spare em the bowling pun, from Cushman & Wakefield. It was a competitive yet very fun competition, and we all had a blast and are grateful to all our supporters. We look forward to seeing everyone again in 2020 for our 15th Bowl-A -Thon!”
Through its Bowl-A-Thon, Cushman & Wakefield has helped raise a grand total of more than $500,000 dollars since its inception 14 years ago. While over the past three years (events), the Bowl-A-Thon has raised close to $100,000 with all of those proceeds going toward the support of TPL’s amazing work in San Francisco’s under-served Tenderloin neighborhood.
