Cushman & Wakefield Serves Four Organizations at Annual Great Day of Service

Yesterday, Cushman & Wakefield’s Atlanta office held its Annual Great Day of Service. Each fall, the office closes so employees can volunteer at a local organization. This year, our team of over 200 employees divided and conquered to a variety of projects throughout the city.

Many of the volunteers spent time at Gateway Center’s Evolution Center, which provides emotional and physical support for men that are experiencing homelessness. Teams painted walls and murals, completed landscape work such as planting perennials and constructing flower beds, and created hygiene kits and organized clothing for the men at the shelter. Special thanks to Rosing Painting & Gibbs Landscaping for donating materials!

At Trees Atlanta, planting trees to protect and expand Atlanta’s tree canopy is a fundamental part of Trees Atlanta’s mission, and to-date the organization has planted more than 133,000 trees throughout the metro area. As such, employees headed to the Atlanta BeltLine to complete a variety of outdoor tasks including cutting and removing weeds and kudzu.

A group of about 50 volunteers delivered meals on behalf of Open Hand to feed Atlanta’ sick and homebound. Delivery drivers/food deliverers are a critical part of the service that Open Hand provides to the community.

A new partner to the firm is Concrete Jungle, which uses its urban farm and fruit trees throughout the city to donate more than 347,000 servings of fruits and vegetables to local food banks and shelters, rescuing over 93,500 pounds of produce. Employees enjoyed picking more than 100 pounds of tomatoes, 50 pounds of squash and several bags of sweet potato greens to help feed Atlanta’s hungry. They also turned garden beds to prepare for planting, weeded and renovated the farm’s shed.

Culture is at the heart of Cushman & Wakefield – we believe people should love what they do and who they work for. Giving back to the communities in which our team members live and work is a cornerstone of that culture and guiding principles.
