Our impact is realized through the efforts of our WIN Leadership Council, local chapter leads and members who develop meaningful programming to foster career development, leadership, networking and change within our organization.
Last month in Minneapolis, the WIN Leadership Council hosted our chapter leads for our annual WIN Collaborative. This event encourages the free flow of ideas, best practices and strategies for enhancing WIN’s presence locally and nationally, and allows new chapter leads to learn from the successes of their peers. In addition, the WIN Leadership Council shares its goals and accomplishments, which helps chapter leads align to and support our overall strategy and mission.
A key part of WIN’s mission is to leverage the leadership and talents of our women team members, and the theme of leadership ran throughout the entire Collaborative event. Without great leaders, we cannot sustain WIN’s efforts, nor can we truly elevate our women and increase their visibility within our firm.
To kick off the Collaborative, we held our WIN Conversation Series panel discussion on what it means to be a role model leader. In addition, Denise LaForte, Chief Human Resources Officer for the Americas, and Roberta Liss, President, Northeast, Northcentral, Mid-Atlantic Region, spoke to Collaborative attendees about Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) initiatives and WIN’s role in helping carry them out. Own the Room, a leading company in learning and development, led attendees through interactive training and exercises to help them further realize their value and leadership potential.
We as a group came away from this event with momentum, but we still have a lot of work to do. While WIN serves an Employee Resource Group (ERG), we are doing so much more. WIN is a true change catalyst with the visibility and opportunities we present to women, and our colleagues can see the value women provide, which breaks down barriers, changes perceptions and gives women a seat at the table. The fact that our company and colleagues put considerable time and resources behind WIN speaks volumes to our value and the importance placed on recruiting and retaining top female talent.
I’m confident that together as WIN members and with all colleagues, male and female, we can shape our firm for a future where gender diversity is not the goal, it’s the norm. We are already seeing the fruits of our labor and that of others in the makeup of our executive leadership team and in different levels of our organization.
