We look forward to sharing a different member of our team’s talent with the community each month.
Jackie Salvato started out her career at Cushman & Wakefield seven years ago as an executive administrator and has become an indispensable part of our brokerage team. She has worked with the downtown and Cambridge teams for her entire time at Cushman & Wakefield and loves when she gets to be creative in her current role.
Jackie took the time to tell us about how she thinks tech will impact CRE and her love of the ocean. Thanks, Jackie!
What do you like most about your job?
I like that every day is different – you never know what is going to happen. Though most of my daily tasks stay the same, things change quickly in this industry and I’m constantly finding that my job is evolving to fit the needs of the day-to-day. There is a lot of variety with my position, as I work with a lot of different personalities and teams. I’m never bored and I’m always learning!
When you’re not working, where are you and what are you doing?
When I’m not at work, I love to read and watch tv, I’m really into ‘The Good Place’ show right now – I highly recommend it! If I’m going out, you can find me at the mall or the movies. However, my favorite place to be is near the ocean – I’m a huge beach person in the summer and I love swimming. I grew up in Maine, so I was constantly surrounded by nature growing up. We used to take trips to the beaches in elementary school and study different crustaceans every year. Not surprisingly, the beaches in Maine are my favorite, but I don’t discriminate when it comes to the ocean!
What does CRE in Boston look like five years from now?
I think technology is going to be a huge trend to watch – such as smart features like Amazon Alexa being able to record tasks is huge. I think more offices will be integrating features like these as technology continues to evolve. I’ve also seen working from home become a bigger trend as I’ve been in the workforce for the past seven years. I don’t think working in offices will go away, but it speaks to the amount technology has already changed the way people work and will continue to do so.
What’s the professional accomplishment you’re most proud of?
Though this may not be particularly specific – I feel the proudest anytime we win or retain clients here at Cushman & Wakefield. As it relates to winning, no matter if the part I played in winning the client was big or small, it gives me a huge sense of pride that I helped the team at all. As for client retention, since I’ve been here for seven years, it’s nice to know that the work I provided for the teams was positively received by our clients. I really like being a part of the team here, especially if I’m able to help with creative presentation solutions that are well received by my teams and clients.
What’s your favorite spot in all of Boston?
If I go out in Boston – I’m headed to the Seaport. On Fridays in the summer, I usually meet my sister at Legal Harborside. My favorite floor is the first floor, because it has such great views of the ocean.
