COVID-19 Update: A note from Executive Chairman & CEO, Brett White

To our clients across the globe:

I want to update you on Cushman & Wakefield’s response and approach to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. These are unsettling times, and I am sure that you—like all of us—are concerned for your families and loved ones above all.

To that end, we have advised our employees to work remotely for the time being, where their jobs make it possible.

Our client-facing teams remain in place and continue to deliver services. Those assigned to properties and accounts will continue with their day-to-day work as usual. We are making certain that all of our systems, infrastructure and support functions that your Cushman & Wakefield teams rely on are fully operational just as they would be on any normal day.

Our professionals, working hand-in-hand with our clients, are finding ways to manage through these difficult days by modifying meeting protocols, touring properties with smaller groups and finding ways to keep moving forward. At the same time, we are adhering to important public health restrictions and recommendations.

In some jurisdictions, we know that business-as-usual simply isn’t possible, and that managing through this disruption is a daily undertaking. Right now, in countries like Italy, Spain and France, we’re supporting clients in whatever way local authorities allow. In other parts of the world, we may be working under new protocols. Regardless, business is getting done.

It’s worth pointing out that Cushman & Wakefield is one of the largest commercial property managers in China, with more than 20,000 people on the ground. Since early January and the onset of the virus, we have been managing our operations and clients’ properties throughout that part of the world. Thankfully, the rate of infection seems to be quickly dissipating.

I can tell you that even during the worst of the outbreak in China, I am not aware of a single building that has not been well-managed; nor am I aware of a single client whose Cushman & Wakefield team has not worked successfully through trying circumstances. I’m very proud of the way our Chinese team came up with creative and effective solutions around so many unexpected challenges. As you might expect, we are now using their experiences as a set of best practices we can employ elsewhere.

Despite the unprecedented challenges, I want you to know that we are open and doing business. We understand that in uncertain times, our clients need us even more, and we have asked our account teams to be in regular contact with you. Feel free to reach out to them at any time with questions or to understand how we are managing through the various issues that we are all are facing each day. I also encourage you to visit our website as we continue to publish our latest findings and insights on the impact of COVID-19 on our industry.

In short, our 53,000 people around the world will all tell you that nothing is more important to us than the care of our clients. We are always here for you—not only when times are good, but even more so when times are difficult.

As matters progress, and if needed, I will be in touch again. For now, I wish you all of my best. Please stay safe and healthy.
