During the recent spring season and now into early summer, several members representing multiple offices and service lines and employee resource groups helped give back in a variety of ways, whether in participating and or volunteering or through fundraising. Here are some of NorCal’s recent efforts:
Dress for Success: In conjunction with Cushman & Wakefield’s Women in Law event in San Francisco on June 10, our Women’s Integrated Network (WIN) San Francisco Bay Area Chapter, together with our Legal Sector Advisory Group (LSAG), partnered with Dress for Success, a global nonprofit organization that provides professional attire for low-income women. Following weeks of fundraising, with generous donations from both clients and company members, this effort has collected a total of well over $10,000 in clothing and monetary donations to date, and still counting.
American Lung Association “Fight for Air Climb”: On June 1, a Cushman & Wakefield team took part in the American Lung Association’s 2019 Fight for Air Climb in downtown San Francisco. In total, participants successfully met the challenge of climbing all 52 stories (1,197 steps) of the skyscraper and collectively raised $2,512.00.
Sacramento Zoo Gardening: On May 30, members of Sacramento Asset Services volunteered for a morning of gardening and habitat restoration at the Sacramento Zoo. The group had a fun, rewarding experience while surrounded by the sights and sounds of elephants, lions, monkeys and all sorts of other zoo creatures.
Project Open Hand: On May 14 in San Francisco, several members of our Asset Services and other departments helped to once again support Project Open Hand, a nonprofit with the mission of improving health outcomes and quality of life by helping provide nutritious meals to the sick and vulnerable. Our team helped prepare the equivalent of 540 portions of food.
ACRE/BOYA Charity Event: On May 10 as part of the Association of Commercial Real Estate (ACRE) Sacramento Charity Benefit/Broker of the Year Awards (BOYA), more than 70 professionals across our Sacramento office joined together to help raise a substantial $15,000 toward the Child Abuse Prevention Center (CAPC), this year’s ACRE event Charity of the Year selection.
Bay Area Bike to Work Day: On May 9, NorCal Asset Services took part in the 25 Annual Bike to Work Day, the biggest bicycle event in the Bay Area with hundreds of thousands of participants. Local Cushman & Wakefield members teamed up with members of the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition to operate The Pruneyard’s energizer station.
St. Anthony’s Dining Room: On May 2, the Bay Area and San Francisco chapters of Cushman & Wakefield Future Leaders (CWFL) and WIN joined together for a day of voluntary service at St. Anthony’s Dining Room. Sixteen volunteers from Cushman & Wakefield participated in the farmers market, a weekly event put on for seniors in the community to be able to get fresh fruits, vegetables and meats, all free of charge.
Rebuilding Together: On April 27, NorCal Asset Services teamed up in support of Rebuilding Together, a non-profit that assists people in the community with home repairs and renovations that they would not be able to do by themselves. The team helped paint and clean up the home of a senior in need.
Alameda County Food Bank: On April 23, NorCal Asset Services team helped to assist the Alameda County Community Food Bank in Oakland. Our volunteers helped to sort and bag approximately 11,350 pounds of oranges, 4,630 pounds of onions and 1,390 pounds of apples.
