Steve Farahay joined Cushman & Wakefield in 2004 as a building engineer and has earned several promotions to his current role with increasing responsibilities. Steve currently oversees maintenance operations for the entire 17 million square foot portfolio in the Cincinnati and Dayton markets. He offers extensive property operations experience and has a strong commitment to client satisfaction, energy usage reduction, and implementation of environmentally-sound practices.
His current responsibilities include oversight of maintenance of 16 million square feet of suburban office, medical, and industrial managed properties and 600,000 square feet of facilities assignments. Additionally, he directs the allocation, training, and development of 30 engineers and technicians. He provides strong technical expertise in the inspection, servicing, and repair of buildings, grounds and equipment. He has experience managing major capital improvement projects and overseeing competitive vendor bidding processes. In just the past year, Steve directed more than $4.5 million in budgeted capital improvement projects, including rooftop unit, compressor, and roof replacements.
Steve regularly conducts assessments of his properties in the following areas: energy management, preventive maintenance, life-safety, electrical, elevators, HVAC, and plumbing systems. Moreover, Steve works very closely with Property Managers and works to develop and implement best practices within his group both in operational skills and in safety procedures. In 2012, Steve and his team took advantage of energy rebate programs and reduced utility expenses through competitive bidding and retrofits resulting in potential cost savings of more than $675,000.
